On September 28th, at "the 2020 China Top 500 Enterprise Summit Forum", the China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association released the "Top 500 Chinese Enterprises" list, with Weichai Group strong on the TOP 100 list.

With revenues of 264.6 billion yuan, Weichai Group ranks 83rd among the top 500 Chinese enterprises in 2020 and 23rd among the top 500 Chinese manufacturing enterprises in 2020, up 4 places from 2019, and 21st in the 100th largest Chinese multinational companies in 2020, up 1 place from 2019.

The new list, jointly issued by the China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association for the 19th consecutive year, showed that the combined net profit of the firms rose 10.2 percent year-on-year, which showed improved performance and more research and development (R&D) spending by the companies. Among the 500 firms, 431 reported R&D data. Their combined R&D spending totaled 1.08 trillion yuan ($158.2 billion), with the proportion of R&D expenditure to operating revenue rising to a historical high of 1.61 percent. The number of firms with a revenue of more than 100 billion yuan reached 217 from 194 last year. When the first list was issued in 2002, only 10 firms reported revenues above 100 billion yuan. The 500th company on the 2020 list reported revenues of 35.96 billion yuan, an increase of 3.64 billion yuan from last year.

China Enterprise Confederation (CEC) / China Enterprise Directors Association (CEDA), as the Chinese representative of employers, is a non-governmental institution. CEC (formerly known as CEMA which was renamed to China Enterprise Confederation on April 20,1999.), established in 1979, and CEDA, established in 1983, merged into one institution in 1988.
