Weichai WH20 engine were used for dual fuel ships
In Luzhou, Sichuan, the first local dual-fuel "Jiangsu 2022" dry cargo ship officially departed. The vessel "Jiangsu 2022" with a tonnage of 3908 tons and a displacement of 8972 tons at full load, was equipped with two main engines of the Weichai WH20 dual-fuel ranges, other engines from Weichai were also used as auxiliary engines. The highlight of the ship is the WH20 dual-fuel engine, using a combination of diesel and LNG fuel. 

Impact of marine emissions on the environment
According to a study by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), international shipping emitted 796 million tons of CO2 in 2012, accounting for 2.2% of greenhouse gas emissions globally. This percentage could increase to 50% - 250% by 2050 due to the rapid growth of international maritime trade. Besides, maritime activities also generate other harmful wastes for the environment such as SOx and NOx. 

Alternative fuel source for traditional fuel
Alternative fuel use is a possible solution to the negative environmental impacts of marine waste, including:
Fossil fuels: heavy fuel oil (HFO), marine diesel (MDO) and marine petroleum (MGO), liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). 
Biofuels: Biogas, Biodiesel, Alcohol (Methanol and Ethanol)
Non-carbon fuels: Hydrogen, Ammonia 
Other alternative marine energy sources: Nuclear energy, Fuel cell systems, Wind energy. 
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) belongs to the fossil fuel group, which is colorless, odorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive. LNG is considered the cleanest fuel compared to conventional marine fuels. Therefore, the potential of LNG fuel is high in environmental protection and sustainable development of the maritime industry in general and Vietnam in particular.
