Recently, the passenger vessel “President 100,” powered entirely by 100% biodiesel (B100) and equipped with core propulsion systems provided by Weichai, was officially launched in Singapore. At the heart of the vessel lies a Weichai engine, making “President 100” a breakthrough milestone in the global maritime industry's green journey. This marks a significant step in the B100 trial project — a collaborative initiative between Weichai and key partners such as the China Classification Society (CCS) Singapore Office, the Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) at Nanyang Technological University, and Pinnacle Marine.

Built in Singapore and fitted with two WP13C450-18BF main engines and two Weichai gensets, the vessel will undergo 1000 hours of real-sea testing in Singapore to evaluate performance, emissions, and durability while operating on B100 biodiesel.

As a clean biofuel, B100 represents one of the most promising solutions in the shipping industry's pursuit of net-zero emissions. This project will provide valuable real-world data for the development of standards related to bunkering, storage, and operation of B100-fueled vessels, and is set to become a flagship example for Singapore’s maritime industry in its green transition.

Weichai is proud to join hands with global partners in driving green and sustainable energy for the future of our oceans.
